What about new appliances and leads?
New appliances and leads may be brought into service without PAT Testing. Manufacturers will have subjected the appliance to stringent production inspection and testing before dispatch.
However, they should undergo a visual inspection and user checks as they may have encountered damage in transit. These items should be entered into the asset register, at the same time a risk assessment should be carried out in order to determine the frequency of subsequent inspection and testing.
Used or second hand equipment should be PAT Tested prior to entering service
